Therapy for Gay Men & LGBTQ+ Adults

A Space Where You Don't Have to Explain Yourself

Being gay is only one part of who you are. But it can influence how you experience relationships, sex, family, friendships, work, and even how you see yourself.

Perhaps you're struggling with dating or relationships. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, OCD, body image concerns, sexual difficulties, loneliness, or questions about what you want from life. Or perhaps you're simply looking for a therapist who understands gay culture and the experiences that can come with it.

I primarily work with gay men, providing individual therapy in an affirming, nonjudgmental environment where you can discuss your concerns openly without feeling that you need to explain or defend your identity.

Why Gay Men Come to Therapy

Gay men seek therapy for many of the same reasons as anyone else. However, certain experiences and expectations can introduce additional challenges.

Some of the concerns we can explore include:

  • Anxiety, OCD, depression, and trauma

  • Dating, relationships, intimacy, and sexual concerns

  • Body image, appearance, and aging

  • Coming out, family acceptance, and internalized shame

  • Loneliness and difficulty developing meaningful friendships

  • Pornography and compulsive sexual behaviors

  • Monogamy, open relationships, and navigating relationship expectations

  • Career stress, perfectionism, and major life transitions

You don't need to identify with any particular experience or have a specific problem related to your sexuality to benefit from working together.

Relationships, Sex & Intimacy

Relationships and sexuality can be complicated. Whether you're navigating dating apps, struggling to establish meaningful connections, experiencing sexual performance concerns, or questioning what you want from a relationship, therapy offers an opportunity to explore these experiences without judgment.

We can also address the complexities of monogamy, open relationships, sexual expectations, pornography, intimacy, and the relationship between sex and emotional connection.

My role isn't to tell you what your relationships or sex life should look like. It's to help you better understand your choices, recognize patterns that may be creating difficulties, and determine what works for you.

All relationship-related work is provided through individual therapy.

Body Image, Aging & Self-Acceptance

Gay men can experience considerable pressure surrounding physical appearance, masculinity, sexual desirability, and aging. Social media, dating apps, and comparisons with others can intensify these concerns.

Therapy can help you examine how these expectations affect your self-esteem, relationships, and everyday life while developing a healthier relationship with yourself.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to your individual needs. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other evidence-based approaches, we'll work together to understand what's keeping you stuck and identify meaningful ways forward.

When appropriate, I also incorporate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and EMDR for trauma.

As a gay man myself, I understand that sexuality can influence your experiences without defining every aspect of your life. My goal is to provide a space where you can discuss whatever brings you to therapy without assumptions, judgment, or unnecessary explanations.

Online Therapy for Gay Men & LGBTQ+ Adults

I provide individual therapy primarily through secure telehealth to adults throughout New Jersey, New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, with limited in-person availability.

Whether you're facing a particular challenge or simply looking for a therapist who understands your experiences, you're welcome to reach out.
